Steelgrass Chocolate Farm Tour
Here's a sample of some of the comments people have sent us after they've enjoyed our Tour:
I meant to write a "Thank You" immediately after our chocolate tour, which was very informative. Your congeniality and hospitality were most enjoyable. The other three grandchildren were old enough to understand the informational section of the tour, and of course everyone loved all the various exotic fruits we sampled on the way down to the orchard, not to mention the chocolate tasting itself! I hope your plan is successful to introduce chocolate, timber bamboo and vanilla as viable agricultural products to Kaua'i. I feel very fortunate to have met you and seen the passion the Lydgate family has for your island and its future. We'll be back in January! Aloha....and Mahalo.
--Nancy Burns.
My son Sam and I participated in the Chocolate tour, and I just wanted to send you a note to express our thanks once again. We had such a nice time and really enjoyed learning so much about Kauai and your family's efforts to introduce chocolate growing. Sam still talks about some of the things he learned. We are back in Portland now (not so humid here!), and we already miss Kauai. Hopefully someday we'll get a chance to return!

Hi. This is Jill. My boyfriend and I took your wonderful chocolate tour last week and I felt compelled to email you to say how much we enjoyed seeing your lovely place and learning so much diverse info. Thanx again for the enlightenment :)

Just wanted to send a note back saying that my wife, Tracy, and I really enjoyed the tour last week. We are back in chilly AK, but will remember our unique experience at your farm for years. Thanks for what you do.
--Ed and Tracy
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much we all enjoyed your chocolate farm tour! It was the absolute highlight of my trip to Hawaii, and my brother commented that "it was like walking through the Garden of Eden!"

I'm back at home now after a great trip to Kauai. I wanted to thank you again for the tour and the Chocolate Taste Testing. My husband and I had a great time. I especially loved the sampling of all the various fruits while making our way to the cacao trees. Your family does a great job on the tour and we can tell that you speak from first-hand experience and more importantly you speak from the heart, or as I think you put it from the spirit. Good luck to you and your family in your continued growth and I hope to be back one day to see it.
--Margo Schultz
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to you for the amazing work you are doing on Kauai and on the planet. I was blessed to take your chocolate farm tour this past December and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then, I followed up with reading more on your website and WOW! You are doing truly inspiring things! I My family and I are determined to return to your beautiful farm the next time we are back on Kauai. It was our first trip to Hawaii (we live in Colorado) and we made a vow to return annually. Until then, many blessings and again, thank you for a wonderful morning.

I wanted to let you know what a great time my family and I had on the tour of your farm today. It was inspirational to see the commitment, love and great work that you all have put in this venture. Given the massive changes that we are facing on our planet it is
important that we all try and make a difference in any way we can, for our future
generations and for our planet. We look forwards to visiting your farm on our next visit and would be honored to help out in any way in the future.
--Alec Alexiadis (the family with the young girl.)
You and you family gave us a most memorable Kauai experience. We just bought a time share in Poi'pu and hope to bring the rest of our family to visit Steelgrass. I think you are headed the right direction and are providing an invaluable resource to the people of Kauai. Your efforts means that many people could go to one job, plant one or more of your crops, and raise their quality of life. Thanks again,
--Charles and Stephanie
--Terry and Becky
I like when my sister and I got the crumbs in the chocolate dishes and ate them. My sister was scared. My mom is freaky. My favorite part was when we stopped at the orange tree.
--Samantha, aged 5.
Hope this finds all the Lydgates well. My husband and I just want to thank you for the excellent tour that your family gave us, it was one of the highlights of our vacation. Speaking as farmers from Eureka, Nevada, we identified with the struggles that small family farms are going through. We support your endeavours of trying to find crops that can be grown on the island to help the local small landowners be able to survive against the ever-rising cost of living on the island. We wish your family much success in the future, and let us know if there is something we can do to help in the survival of the family farm. I plan on applying the most important information I learned that day. To eat my 2 oz. of chocolate everyday!
